Theology of Holiness Reflection and Integration Paper

$2.99

This document is my reflection and integration paper on the Theology of Holiness, which I wrote during my advanced theological studies to wrestle with how the doctrine of sanctification shapes my own life and ministry. I begin by exploring different views on holiness and entire sanctification, asking myself whether holiness is a one-time or continuous experience, how essential it is to salvation, and why we need a renewed holiness movement in a world—and even in churches—where the sense of God’s holiness has faded.

I then trace key theological themes that have impacted me: the history of the holiness movement (especially in John Wesley), major issues related to sanctification, the meaning of Christian perfection, the doctrine of sin, and the image of God in humanity. I examine biblical terms for perfection, distinguish different levels of perfection, categorize sin as a state, an act, and an infirmity, and reflect on how the fall damaged the moral, natural, and political dimensions of the imago Dei and how God works to restore them.

In the paper, I state my own position clearly: I lean toward seeing entire sanctification as a “longer way,” a lifelong process of growth, self-denial, and maturation into the character of Christ, even while I acknowledge and present other perspectives so that believers can see the full range of views. I conclude by drawing implications for my ministry, renewing my commitment to teach and preach entire sanctification, to ground people in solid historical, theological, and biblical foundations, and to help them integrate repentance, faith, lifestyle change, and spiritual disciplines into a sustained journey of holiness that reflects the mind and character of Christ.
